It has been my wish, since I was exposed to veganism and natural foods, to bring this to the people who usually never get a chance to hear the word, nor get access to, healing, non-toxic diets and foods.
For me, bringing this way of life, and this focus on integrative health, to the underclass in California, particularly kids in the ghettos and people in the penal system has become a driving idea in my heart and mind, as I feel that it is a test of the true power and commitment of not only the vegan movement, but also the activist movement of the left.
I consider it a challenge that we try make this work on a street level, and expose lower class kids and adults to this way of thinking.
I have recently decided to embark on a free-form study of the California state penal system, diet, and the vendors chosen to serve "food" to
the prisoners in the california state penal system.
Recently, Melanoma, and other forms of cancer are appearing in inmates who had no record of these diseases before entering the prison population.
Also I am compiling information in the process of becoming a vendor (a requirement for bring food into the prison system) and other ways to improve diet among inmates.
This information, I intend to package, speak on, and get funding for solutions. My forte is public speaking, however my ability to crunch numbers and data is seriously in question.
Anyone having ideas, information, reports, or wishing to join me in uncovering one of California's worst corruption and mistreatment scandals are invited to email, or message me. I will not be the head or leader of anything. If any change is to take effect in San Quentin, it will require a whole lot more than me.

I was, wishing to include this as a topic, yes. But in inclusive sort of way. There are hundreds of inmates in the system who have stated they are allergic to wheat. But exclusively? no. there are some to whom this is not pertinent.
thanks.

Re: Help me expose Life, death, diet and corruption in the California state prisons system.
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 11:55 AMi would assume that it wouldn't apply to everyone, but since this is such a specific tribe, and all of our health concerns revolve around wheat and what it does to our bodies the question must be posted.
i would be interested in hearing how you plan to try and get the system to seaprate these things out so that you can benefit from the information our tribe can offer.
are you looking for information that says "this is what happens when people eat what they are 'not supposed' too"?
for instance, long term effects on the body to someone who eats wheat that is allergic vs. intollerant? -

Re: Help me expose Life, death, diet and corruption in the California state prisons system.
Thu, April 26, 2007 - 3:25 PMNo. I am gathering information from all fronts regarding all forms of "alternative: diet, of which I consider "Wheat-free" only one. But in important one since I have seen dozens of people improve noticeably from reducing and sometimes eliminating wheat consumption, alltogether.
I am not in the stage of "getting the system" to do anything yet. I have done four programs so far, and this, is the information and study stage.
At this stage I consider opinions, weigh options, make connections. and field questions.
Thanks.
